Rodrigo Rollemberg é filho de Teresa Sobral Rollemberg e do ex-ministro e ex-deputado federal Armando Leite Rollemberg. É casado com Márcia e pai de três filhos: Gabriela, Ícaro e Pedro Ivo. De uma família de 14 irmãos, chegou a Brasília em 1960. Formado em História pela Universidade de Brasília UnB, iniciou a atividade política no movimento estudantil, participando ativamente do processo de reconstrução da UNE. É filiado ao PSB, seu único partido, desde 1985.

Rodrigo Rollemberg is the son of Teresa Sobral Rollemberg and former Minister and former deputy federal Armando Leite Rollemberg. He is married to Márcia and the father of three children: Gabriela, Icarus, and Pedro Ivo. From a family of 14 brothers, he arrived in Brasília in 1960. He graduated in History from the UNB – University of Brasília and began political activity in the students movement, actively participating in the reconstruction process of UNE. He is affiliated with the PSB, his only party since 1985 .

Foi duas vezes deputado distrital (1995 a 1996 e de 1999 a 2002), secretário de Turismo (janeiro de 1996 a abril de 1998), candidato a governador (2002), secretário de Inclusão Social do Ministério de Ciência e Tecnologia (2004 a 2006), deputado federal (2007 a 2010) e senador (2011 a 2014). É o atual governador do Distrito Federal, eleito com 812.036 votos.

Twice he was district deputy (from 1995 to 1996, and from 1999 to 2002), Secretary of Tourism (January 1996 to April 1998), gubernatorial candidate (2002), Social Inclusion Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology (from 2004 to 2006), federal deputy (from 2007 to 2010) and Senator (from 2011 to 2014). He is the current governor of the Distrito Federal, elected with 812,036 votes.

Como deputado distrital, combateu com rigor a grilagem de terras públicas e a ocupação desordenada do solo. Liderou a implantação do Comitê de Bacia do Lago Paranoá e foi o autor do projeto que originou a Lei das Águas do DF.

As district deputy, he fought rigorously against public land grabbing and the disorderly occupation of land. He led the implementation of the Paranoá Lake Basin Committee and was the author of the project that originated the DF Water Law.

Na Secretaria de Turismo, Lazer e Juventude, no governo Cristovam, deu início ao Projeto Orla, fez a recuperação de vários monumentos, como o Catetinho e a Igrejinha da 107 Sul; regularizou a área do Camping; criou o Heliporto; construiu o Albergue da Juventude; e abriu os monumentos à visitação pública, transformando Brasília num centro de eventos.

At the Secretary of Tourism, Leisure and Youth, in the Cristovam government, he initiated the Projeto Orla, made ​​the recovery of various monuments such as the Catetinho and the little church of 107 Sul; he regularized the Camping area; created the Heliport; built the Youth Hostel; and opened the monuments to public visitation, turning Brasília into an exhibition center.

Na Secretaria de C&T para Inclusão Social do MCT, Rollemberg empreendeu diversas iniciativas. Em sua gestão, foi criada a Olimpíada Brasileira de Matemática das Escolas Públicas (OBMEP) e desenvolvidos projetos estratégicos de apoio à difusão e à popularização da ciência, como a Semana Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia, Incubadora Social e Solidária, Centros Vocacionais Tecnológicos, Arranjos Produtivos Locais, e Extensão Tecnológica.

In the C&T Secretariat for Social Inclusion of the MCT, Rollemberg undertook several initiatives. The Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad of Public Schools (OBMEP) was created in his management, and strategic projects were developed to support the dissemination and popularization of science, such as the National Week of Science and Technology, Social and Solidarity Incubator, Technological Vocational Centers, Local Productive Arrangements, and Technology Extension.

Ainda apoiou dezenas de grupos de produção de bordado, costura e artesanato e ajudou a formatar a Rede de Tecnologias Sociais, onde centenas de instituições públicas e privadas trabalhavam, em conjunto, tecnologias voltadas para a inclusão social.

He also supported dozens of embroidery, sewing and handcrafts production groups, and he helped establishing the Network of Social Technologies, where hundreds of public and private institutions were jointly operating technologies aiming at social inclusion.

Em seu primeiro mandato no Congresso Nacional, foi líder do PSB na Câmara dos Deputados durante dois anos, coordenou a bancada de deputados e senadores do DF e presidiu a comissão do Fundo Social do Pré-Sal, entre várias outras ações.

In his first term in National Congress, he was the head of the PSB in the House of Representatives for two years, he coordinated the bench of deputies and senators of the Distrito Federal, and headed the committee of the Pre-Salt Social Fund, among several other actions.

Em 2011, quando assumiu o cargo de Senador, coordenou a bancada de deputados e senadores do DF. Durante os dois primeiros anos, presidiu a Comissão de Meio Ambiente, Defesa do Consumidor e Fiscalização e Controle e apresentou substitutivo ao Projeto de Lei nº 74/2010, que criou a Lei Geral dos Concursos Públicos.

In 2011, when he took the office of Senator, he coordinated the bench of deputies and senators of the Distrito Federal. During the first two years, he headed the Environment Committee, Consumer Protection and Inspection and Control, and presented a substitute to Bill No. 74/2010, which created the General Law on Public Procurement.

Foi autor da proposta de emenda à Constituição que diminui o número de assinaturas necessárias para a apresentação de projetos de lei de iniciativa popular e relator da Lei das ONGs, que regula as parcerias de entes públicos com o chamado terceiro setor (entidades privadas sem fins lucrativos). Em 2013, projeto de sua autoria que estabelece diretrizes para a Política Nacional de Integração Lavoura-Pecuária-Floresta foi transformado na Lei 12.805. A norma legal incentiva a produtividade no meio rural e, ao mesmo tempo, estimula a educação ambiental e a preservação do meio ambiente.

He was the author of the proposed amendment to the Constitution that reduces the number of signatures required for the presentation of popular initiative bills and rapporteur of the NGOs Act, which regulates public entities partnerships with the so-called third sector (private non-profit entities). In 2013, the project of his own which establishes guidelines for the National Policy on Crop-Livestock-Forest Integration was transformed into Law 12,805. The legal rule fosters productivity in rural areas and, at the same time, it encourages environmental education and environmental conservation.

Por oito vez consecutivas (2007 a 2014), Rollemberg foi indicado pelo Departamento Intersindical de Assessoria Parlamentar (Diap) como um dos 100 parlamentares mais influentes do Congresso Nacional. Os organizadores do Prêmio Congresso em Foco, que avalia todos os anos “os melhores políticos do Congresso Nacional”, recomendaram por seis vezes (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013) o atual governador do DF para receber a honraria.

For eight consecutive times (from 2007 to 2014), Rollemberg was nominated by the Intersyndicate Department of Parliamentary Advisory (Diap) as one of the 100 most influential parliamentarians of the National Congress. The organizers of the Congress in Focus Award, which evaluates “the best politicians of National Congress” every year, recommended six times (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013) the current governor of the Distrito Federal to receive that honor.
